To slow down the further spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has vowed to strictly enforce the no-face mask policy in public places.
As Metro Manila’s shifted from modified enhanced community quarantine to general community quarantine on June 1, Belmonute underscored the importance of wearing a face mask to protect a person against COVID-19.
She directed the Quezon City Police District, all barangay officials, Department of Public Order and Safety, Task Force Disiplina, Market Development and Administration Department, and other concerned offices of the city government to enforce the order.
Authorities would no longer be lenient to violators, she warned, saying those without a face mask in a public place would be “automatically” penalized.
“Since face mask is one of our first defenses against COVID-19, we will intensify our campaign for the people to get use to wearing a face mask in public places,” she said.
