The Caloocan City government on Wednesday fetched the first batch of overseas Filipino workers and brought them to their homes to be able to reunite with their families.
In compliance with the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte and the National Task Force against COVID-19, Mayor Oscar Malapitan issued the order to help in the transport of the 11 stranded OFWs.
The city government was not hesitant to welcome the returning OFWs, he said.
"By checking the certification in their possession issued by the countries where they came from that showed they were already COVID19-free, so there’s no need to place them under quarantine here.
Besides, they already waited for long time while under quarantine by the Overseas Workers’ Welfare Administration," he said.
