The Bureau of Customs seized some P34.7 million worth of imported cigarettes misdeclared as furnitures and blinds contained in two containers at the Port of Manila.
Port of Manila District Collector Arsenia Ilagan said the shipments from China arrived last April 27 and May 1, 2020 and were consigned to Vierport International Co. and Anikas Will Industry Corp. which were declared as furnitures and window blinds.
Ilagan ordered the shipments on hold after customs examiners discovered discrepancy in the documents submitted to his office and directed customs agents to conduct a physical examination of the shipments.
“After the examination, several cartons of Two Moon cigarettes were discovered, “ Ilagan said.
