Expert pushes cloud technology for businesses amid pandemic

A Filipino  technology executive says cloud-based platforms can fill the gap for businesses that were affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic that resulted in major disruptions to their processes, transactions and networking.

Kiu Philippines president Junie Pama

Kiu Philippines president Junie Pama says there will be a major shift on how enterprises will conduct transactions. Kiu Philippines is the local subsidiary of Hanoi, Vietnam-based technology company Kiu. In Vìetnamese, Kiu means bridge.

Pama says the  implementation of the community quarantine is a “global tipping point” as a way  of life and in  various  verticals/industries that changed  and  forced everyone   to  get  out of their  respective  comfort zones.

"It  also  changed the way  we do  business.  I call this  the  'digital  shift'  which  practically  started in the  60s  when  the  computer  was invented," he says.

Pama says Kiu, in response to the current business challenges, has introduced the KIU Business Management Platform–a Cloud-based system of integrated applications to manage business and automate back office functions for customer relations management, sales, purchases, inventory management, manufacturing, human resource and accounting.

"Kiu's BMP is designed to simplify daily work, automate processes, transfer data continuously across departments and ensure data security. Your data is secure and controlled only by you," Pama says.

Through KIU's BMP, digitalizing the business  processes ensures that an enterprise can achieve  efficiency resulting in productivity and ultimately  profitability.

Pama says Kiu's BMP offers a number of benefits such as cost-efficiency.  As a subscription-based model, a user will only pay a minimum amount on a monthly basis to maintain the KIU services, he says.

It can also be deployed in less than a month from day one of engagement, compared to other platforms which will take months to implement and years for the service provider to integrate with existing system.

Pama says Kiu is scalable, which means that from 3 to 5 users, it can expand up to thousands of users depending on requirement and needs of the company.

The total cost of ownership is miniminimal as a user will only need a personal computer, a laptop, a tablet or even a smartphone.

To protect against obsolescence, Pama said they will provide upgrades on a regular basis at no cost to subscriber. Moreover, it has  free automatic software updates as part of service to the subscriber.

He says connectivity is not a problem as long as a user  has the device and internet connectivity.

Pama says that being cloud-based, Kiu is apt for disaster recovery because it is not dependent  on traditional IT infrastructure. He says cloud-based  solutions ensure the  sustainability  of business with minimal cost impact to its  implementation.

Pama says using Kiu is as simple as “plug and play.”

He says to ensure a smooth transition, to digital from manual processses, the business consultants will connect to the company for guidance to ensure businesses are on the right track.
