Cooking gas prices raised by P5/kilo

Petron and Isla LPG raised the price of cooking gas by more than P5 per kilogram effective Friday to reflect the higher contract price of liquefied petroleum gas in the world market starting May.

Petron raised the price of cooking gas by P5.80 per kilogram or P63.80 per 11-kilogram tank. Isla LPG, which markets the Solane brand, raised its LPG price by P5.19 per kilogram.

“Petron will implement a P5.80/kg increase in LPG prices effective 12:01 a.m. May 1,” the Philippines’ biggest oil firm said.

“AutoLPG prices will likewise increase by P3.2 per liter at the same time. These reflect the international contract price of LPG for the month of May,” Petron said.

The other oil distributors were expected to follow suit.

LPG prices are adjusted every first day of the month, while pump prices are adjusted every Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the oil firms cut the price of kerosene by P2.15 per liter, diesel by P1.80 per liter and gasoline by P0.20 per liter.

Meanwhile, Petron has partnered with the Transport department to help with the transportation needs of medical front liners. It extended its fuel subsidy assistance to the participating bus units in the Free Ride Service for the Health Workers Program until May 15.

The move followed the extension of the enhanced community quarantine now being enforced in Luzon and other high-risk areas.

Since April 13, Petron has been giving free fuel to the bus companies participating in the Free Ride Service for the Health Workers Program. That program aims to transport front-line health workers to hospitals and medical communities daily as the Philippines continues its fight to contain the spread of COVID-19.
