Ex-Finance chief Virata out of hospital

Manila—Former Finance Secretary and Prime Minister Cesar Virata has been discharged after he was treated for COVID-19 and related complications.

“Dad is home. Thank you for the prayers and well wishes that helped bring him back, “ Virata’s daughter Gillian Virata said in a Facebook post. She also thanked the doctors, nurses and other frontliners who helped in the elder Virata’s  recovery. Gillian said they rushed their father to the

hospital after a mild stroke more than two weeks ago. “Thereafter he tested positive for COVID-19,” she said.

“April 5, he was taken off the ventilator and was able to talk with my mom. God is good,” she added.

 “I thank all those who helped and prayed. Follow instructions for safety,» she said.
