Philippine Airlines on Tuesday cautioned the public against unscrupulous individuals spreading bogus information stating that PAL is hiring a new batch of employees.
“Philippines Airlines warns the public of fake or outdated notices about job openings in PAL, currently circulating on various social media sites. The airline has postponed job hiring during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis,” the PAL management said in a statement.
“Such ads, including those being carried by recruitment sites, are not published by or in any way related to Philippine Airlines,” it added.
PAL officials said they only utilizes the official website www.philippineairlines.com and official social media pages @flypal on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube for any legitimate announcements on job openings, promos, advisories, etc.
“We are coordinating with concerned authorities to stop the further spread of these fraudulent posts. We advise the public to remain
vigilant to avoid falling prey into possible online scams,” PAL said.
PAL was the subject of numerous false social media advertisements in the last four years.
Most of these fake promotions encouraged netizens to reply to several questions in exchange for a chance to win PAL plane tickets. The fake advertisement bears a PAL logo with the phrase “Home in the Sky”.
In November 2019, PAL came up with a warning against the fake ad stating:
“It’s our anniversary: Answer a few questions to get 4 free tickets to Philippine Airlines.”
The same fake PAL promotional advertisement were circulated in 2017 and 2018.
Under the Consumer Act of the Philippines, any person found guilty of false advertising shall be subjected to fines or imprisonment of not less than three months but not more than two years or both upon the discretion of the court.
