Concert King Martin Nievera is vocal in saying that 2018 Miss Universe Catriona Gray has a good singing voice.
In a recent episode of ASAP Natin ‘To!, the two performed Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s hit song “Shallow,” originally recorded for the film A Star is Born.
“You know, one would think that Catriona is a learned, trained singer,” avers Martin. “For one, her notes are not piercing. This means she doesn’t scream but sings with the right technique. She has a singer’s voice already.”
Martin advised and encouraged Cat to continue honing her talent.
“I told her to keep singing. At present, she’s not that confident yet. But the voice is there as well as the technique. The voice quality is already there. I think Catriona is trained by teacher Annie (Quintos) of The CompanY. She did wonders to the voice of Catriona, it’s really good!”
In response, Catriona thanked Martin on her Instagram post as he guided her in their duet.
“Such an honor to share the stage in a duet with Sir @martinnievera! Thank you for the advice and for helping me calm my nerves! If you haven’t seen the performance, the link is in my IG stories! #AsapNatinTo,” her caption says.

Lovers from rival networks
According to Vin Abrenica, it’s no big deal if he and girlfriend Sophie Albert belong to rival networks. It can be remembered that they emerged as the grand winners in the defunct TV5 reality program Artista Academy. At present, Vin is with ABS-CBN while Sophie is seen regularly on GMA.
“Actually, being connected with different networks has a positive effect on our relationship. We have more freedom. Anyway, we just constantly update each other on the latest developments like if we have a new screen partner and we have some intimate or bed scenes. We approach it maturely and professionally,” says Vin in an interview.
The hunky actor reveals that it’s not the case before. It used to be an issue between him and his dulcinea.
“It’s a must that we inform each other if we’re doing some delicate scenes with other actors. Now, there are instances when we are not able to tell each other anymore about such thing. Sometimes, we’ll just see the intimate scenes and it’s just okay. It’s not a problem to us anymore since we know it’s just work,” he shares.
Doing intimate scenes is not new to both Vin and Sophie. In Wildflower and Ipaglaban Mo, Vin had intimate scenes with Roxanne Barcelo and Arci Muñoz, respectively. On her part, Sophie did similar scenes opposite Rocco Nacino and Jason Abalos in the Kapuso offerings Pamilya Roces and Bihag.
Apart from the freedom of doing things for the improvements of their own crafts, Vin reasons out that being in separate work places lets them have a more mature perspective on things.
“Yes, it’s an advantage since when she’s always physically present, you have to give all your time to her. You’re always together like in attending showbiz functions. Unlike in our present situation when we have the freedom to mingle with other friends.
“We have different worlds. She has the chance to grow in her home studio in the same manner that I also have the chance to grow in mine. Then, we can share stories. That’s the beauty of it. I learn about her network and she also learns about my home studio,” he end.
