Leni sets high hopes with PACC’s Jimenez as ICAD co-chair

The camp of Vice President Leni Robredo hopes that the appointment of Presidential Anti-Corruption chairperson Dante Jimenez as the co-chairperson of the Interagency Committee on Anti-illegal Drugs (ICAD) could help solve the issues she raised in her report on the anti-drug war of the Duterte administration.

“The appointment of the new (co-) chairperson could be an opportunity to address the issues. What happened before, those officials were not that open (to our concerns),” Robredo’s spokesperson Barry Gutierrez said.

In a report, Robredo said only 1 percent of shabu supply and drug money were reduced in the last three years under the Duterte administration.

“All of our data and figures came from official reports and statement of the agencies under ICAD,” he said.

President Rodrigo Duterte axed Robredo in her 19th day as ICAD co-chairperson.

“We just hope that this could be the chance to address our challenge and act on the Vice President’s recommendations,” Gutierrez said.
