Singer and pilot Ronnie Liang’s announcement that he graduated from military training at the Armor “Pambato” Division (AD) in Tarlac on Feb. 14 received positive feedback.

Netizens praised Ronnie for exploring other things outside showbiz. He’s now a second lieutenant after finishing needed training. One comment said that the singer is truly an inspiration, especially to the young generation.

“ I’m really thankful for the good words from netizens. People are congratulating me and saying that I kind of inspired them to volunteer and help the country. Ganun naman talaga, dapat nagtutulungan tayong lahat lalo na sa panahong nadadapa tayo as a nation. In my own little way, being a 2nd Lieutenant, I will join activitiesna makatutulong sa tao at sa bansa. We help out people to uplift the image of the army,” Ronnie related.

Ronnie Liang started volunteering for the Army in 2018, and called the Marawi siege in 2017 his 'wake-up call.'

He took the Mechanized Infantry Operations Training (MIOT) Course to further equip his reservist competencies in addressing conventional and external threats.

The “Ngiti” singer shared that he showed interest joining military in 2018 after that dramatic Marawi siege. Those trying times touched and affected him as a Filipino.

“ I started this in 2018, but I didn’t want to tell anyone. I actually volunteered. I said to serve the country, to help the community lalo na sa panahon ng pangangailangan. Remember Marawi siege? ‘Yun ang nagpagising sa akin na talagang kailangan natin magtulungan as a nation,” the singer explained.

Ronnie believes that he’s very much qualified for the army because of his being a pilot, his college degree, and ROTC background.

The rigorous course highlights battle drills, armored vehicle defensive driving, raid mission training, and lectures on enemy armored threats.

“ It was a challenging training. Such a humbling experience. At 4:00 a.m. we had to wake up. They were very strict when it comes to schedule. Dapat talagang mabilis ka kumilos. From eating your food to taking a bath. It involved a lot of physical activities but at the end of the day iisipin mo na malaki ang maitutulong nun sa charactermo and pagmamahal mo sa bayan natin.”

The actor received his black beret and mechanized patches as 2nd Lieutenant from Pambato Commander Maj. Gen. Robert Dauz as these symbolize respect, dedication, passion, commitment, loving of what you do, and willingness to sacrifice your life for the country.

As a newly promoted 2nd Lt., he will still finish his commercial pilot course. Last year, he got his pin as a private pilot.

Meanwhile, Ronnie is still very much into music. He’s promoting his collab song with Sarah Geronimo titled “Liwanag,” available on Spotify and other digital music platforms.

This year, he will produce new songs dedicated to his supporters. He’s also one of the performers for PAGCOR Tour and part of the upcoming movie under Viva that starsBela Padilla and Marco Gumabao.

“2019 was such a good year for me. I feel so blessed that’s why I’m very thankful to Boss Vic [del Rosraio] of Viva, sa family, and sa supporters ko. I will continue making music. And will always find time to manage everything from being a pilot to being a 2nd Lt. Ngayon, mas lumalim talaga ‘yung pagmamahal ko sa bayan natin.I’m encouraging din ang mga kabataan to join the army and promote ROTC. Let’s all help each other,” Liang ended.
