Prime Water accused of sloppy services, unreasonable charges

Prime Water Infrastructure Corporation has been receiving numerous complaints from its customers due to its alleged sloppy services and unreasonably high charges.

According to former Anakpawis lawmaker Ariel Casilao, it is lamentable that profit and not improved services and the desire to provide adequate water supply was the prime interest behind the takeover of Prime Water from the water districts.

Casilao noted while President Rodrigo Duterte continues to heap praises on Prime Water, residents of Marilao, Bulacan; Tayabas, Quezon; Bacolod City, Negros Occidental and Zamboanga City have been complaining of high charges and sloppy water services.

Casilao cited as an example the case in Zamboanga where the city water district supplies water to consumers as Prime Water only supplies 28.8 million liters a day although it is required to supply 50 MLD under its contractual commitment.

Residents of San Pablo, Laguna, on the other hand, have been complaining of high water charges which have reached P1,200 monthly from only P400 in the past.

Other customers of Prime Water have taken to social media their grievances against the water firm.

In a Facebook post, Reigne Salameda of Bagasbas Road, Daet, Camarines Norte revealed that they enjoy water supply only at night and services are reportedly cut off at dawn.

“Parang graveyard ang schedule ng tubig. Pero kung maningil ang aga,” Salameda said.

“‘Di magamit sa pagluluto at paghuhugas ang tubig, parang pinaghugasan ng bigas,” said Antonnieta Vidal of Brgy. Maimpis, San Fernando, Pampanga.
