The recent health and fitness event Maxifest held at Central Park SM By the Bay in Pasay City gathered hundreds of runners and wellness enthusiasts to set a new world record while getting fit.
Maxicare Healthcare Corporation, one of the country’s leading health management organization, staged its biggest health and fitness event in a bid to encourage more people to lead healthy lives.
During the event, each participant hugged a plush Maxibear to set a new Guinness World Record for the most number of people hugging a soft toy simultaneously.
After the official announcement was made, the plushies were donated to the children of Kythe Foundation, the beneficiary of the event.
Kythe Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit, non-stock organization working to improve the quality of life of hospitalized children with cancer and other chronic illness.
“We are very pleased with not only setting a new Guinness World Record, but also with the outcome of the entire event. It was nice to see everyone get fit with their loved ones, and we hope they will continue to improve the quality of their lives through exercise and healthy living,” said Maxicare president and chief executive Christian Argos.
Fitness enthusiasts and celebrity couple Drew Arellano and Iya Villania led the fun while sharing their insights on fitness and wellness. Other celebrities and influencers including Gretchen Ho, Joyce Pring, Jam Manalo, Kimpoy Feliciano, Sam Hashimoto, Apple David, Kyle Vergara, and Jackie Go also joined the celebration.
Premier race organizer RUNRIO, Inc. led an exhilarating Maxifest run which featured a 500-meter dash for three to 12-year-old kids, a 2k Senior Sprint for 60-year-olds and above, and 3k, 5k, 10k, and 16k runs. After the run, top finishers per category were awarded.
Aside from the run, there were also over 50 food stalls at the Maxicare Market, a one-stop shop for ready-to-eat plant-based alternatives to promote health and wellness through plant-based nutrition.
