This is an annual activity of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) that recognizes efforts of individuals, groups, and organizations whose “panata” (vow) is to share their resources, time and selves in providing better opportunities for disadvantaged sectors and to promote inclusive growth.

The awarding ceremony coincided with the 69th anniversary celebration of DSWD. Awardees are chosen based on their significant contributions to the DSWD in fulfilling its mandate of improving the quality of life of the poor and disadvantaged sectors.

SM Foundation, established in 19983 by SM founder Henry Sy Sr. and his wife, Felicidad T. Sy, undertakes SM group of companies’ corporate social responsibility.

The Foundation is committed to serve by supporting and empowering host communities through education, healthcare, shelter, disaster response, farmer’s training, environmental programs and care for persons with special needs, inspired by the principle of People Helping People espoused by its founder.

SM Foundation was represented by Cristie Angeles, AVP for Livelihood and Outreach Programs, in the awarding ceremony.

The ceremony also served as a venue for sharing and learning the best practices, technologies and system of governance for individuals, organizations and LGUs.
