Production from the Malampaya gas field in northwest Palawan rose slightly in 2019 to 155,690 million standard cubic feet from 154,621 mmscf in 2018.
Data from the Energy Department showed the monthly average production increased to 12,974 mmscf from 12,885 mmscf in 2018.
The average daily production from Malampaya increased slightly to 427.72 mmscf from 424.79 mmscf in 2018.
The country’s entire gas production comes from the $4.5-billion Malampaya gas field, which implemented a three-day maintenance shutdown in October last year.
The Malampaya gas field which started production in 2001 is considered an energy asset of significant national importance, being the Philippines’ largest and only commercially producing gas field.
The Malampaya project serves approximately 20 percent of the national demand for electricity.
Production of Malampaya condensate, used in fuel and plastic, however, declined to four billion barrels from 4.061 billion barrels year-on-year.
