POLICE Region 12 director Brig. Gen. Arnold Ardiente on Wednesday, Dec. 31, reported their successful operation following the interception of seven kilograms of dried marijuana leave coursed through a courier service.
The operation stemmed from the arrest of a suspect identified as Romnick in Barangay Lagao, General Santos City for alleged violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
Investigation revealed that the suspect tipped off the police about an incoming parcel containing marijuana through a courier service.
Police operatives coordinated with courier leading to the recovery of the parcel at a courier warehouse in Barangay Calumpang, General Santos City.
The recovered parcel contained approximately two kilograms of suspected dried marijuana leaves. Further verification with the courier disclosed another parcel from the same shipper.
The second parcel was also found to contain about five kilos of suspected marijuana, bringing the total seizure to seven kilograms estimated at P840,000.
The contraband was documented, marked, and secured for evidentiary purposes in accordance with existing laws and procedures.
“This case shows that effective law enforcement is not only about arrests, but also about building cooperation, acting on verified information, and preventing the distribution of illegal drugs before they reach our communities,” Ardiente said.
