Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center (CGHMC) in Manila has inaugurated its new Ear Diagnostics-Hearing Center to address the rising prevalence of hearing loss among the elderly.
The facility provides specialized auditory diagnostics and advanced hearing care using the latest audiometry technology available in the Philippines.
CGHMC medical director Dr. Samuel Ang said the center aligns with the hospital’s vision of becoming a comprehensive healthcare institution.
Ang said providing services for common degenerative conditions like hearing impairment is essential as the local population ages.
The project was established through a partnership between CGHMC and Ear Diagnostics Inc., a leading distributor of hearing aids and audiometric equipment.
Otorhinolaryngology–head and neck surgery section head Dr. Alexander Cukingnan described the opening as a dream come true for the hospital, noting that the team overcame budget constraints and space limitations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to finish the facility.
Ear Diagnostics Inc. executive vice president and clinical audiologist Dr. Rhodieleen Anne de la Cruz said the center is equipped with state-of-the-art tools. These include pure tone audiometry to measure sensitivity and speech audiometry to evaluate how well patients understand spoken words in everyday environments.
The center also offers tympanometry to assess middle ear function, computerized hearing aid prescriptions, soft silicone earmolds, earplugs and real ear measurements.
Specialized services such as conditioned play audiometry, auditory brainstem response and auditory steady-state response are also available by appointment.
Patients have access to the latest computerized hearing aids designed to be sleek and adaptable to various lifestyles.
While specific pricing for the new services was not immediately disclosed, the hospital management said the technology ensures devices adapt seamlessly to different environments.
