RISING Filipina golfer Nicole Gan stamped her brilliance by winning the Girls’ Class B division of the 31st Junior Invitational Golf Championship, hosted by The Singapore Island Country Club (SICC) recently at the Bukit Course.
The 14-year-old standout from Immaculate Conception Academy showcased poise beyond her years, cruising to a runaway 14-shot victory across 54 holes to show her growing stature in the junior golf scene.
Despite a shaky start that saw her open with two bogeys, Gan quickly regrouped, steadying her play over the back nine and maintaining control of the field the rest of the way.
Gan finished the tournament at nine-over-par, a total that not only secured her the Class B crown, but also earned her a podium finish in the overall girls’ standings.
She placed third overall, finishing behind Class A champion Yisoo Min of South Korea, further highlighting the quality of her performance against a strong international field.
The victory marked Gan’s second triumph on Singapore soil in as many years.
She previously captured the Singapore Junior Masters in 2024, reinforcing her reputation as a consistent performer in regional competitions and signalling her continued upward trajectory in junior golf.
Meanwhile, fellow Filipino Geoffrey Tan also saw action in the boys’ division, turning in his best round of the tournament with a 74 to finish 10th overall at 18-over-par.
China’s Lixuan Chen emerged as the winner of the Boys Class B division.
