Malaysian-backed Amplefield Malvar Inc. broke ground on a P950-million industrial development at the LIMA Technology Center in Malvar, Batangas on Dec. 17, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of its affiliate, CAM Connectivity (Phils.) Inc.
The project involves the construction of 13 standard factory and warehouse buildings and an SME Park designed for lease or sale to export-oriented enterprises registered with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).
PEZA director-general Tereso Panga said the investment would expand the availability of ready-for-occupancy industrial spaces in Batangas while strengthening trade ties between Malaysia and the Philippines.
Amplefield Limited, the Malaysian parent company, is funding the project to boost foreign investment in the region.
The Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has endorsed the development, which aims to support supply-chain-driven enterprises.
“In PEZA, we say investments grow when they are invested right,” Panga said during the ceremony. He said the agency is committed to protecting foreign investments and supporting business growth within Philippine ecozones.
The groundbreaking highlights the long-term presence of Amplefield in the country through its subsidiary, CAM Connectivity.
Operating since 1995, CAM Connectivity has evolved from precision manufacturing into a one-stop shop for design, assembly and black anodizing services for the electronics, automotive and aerospace sectors. The firm employs more than 200 Filipino workers at its facility in the Light Industry & Science Park II in Laguna.
Panga also inspected other high-growth ecozone locators, including solar module manufacturer Tidesolar Ph Corp.
The company maintains a 2-gigawatt annual production capacity for next-generation solar modules. He also visited Aice Ice Cream Philippines, which operates a 50,000-square-meter facility as the group’s largest production base in the country.
PEZA officials said these developments reinforce the Philippines’ position as a competitive hub for manufacturing, renewable energy and food production in Southeast Asia.
