The Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) seized about P120 million worth of illicit cigarettes after intercepting an Isuzu cargo truck in San Simon, Pampanga on Dec. 25, HPG Director Brig. Gen. Hansel Marantan said Monday.
Marantan said the truck was flagged down for multiple violations during anti-carnapping and traffic enforcement operations.

A lawful inspection led to the discovery of suspected contraband cigarettes, prompting a follow-up operation.
Authorities recovered more than 1,400 master cases of illicit cigarettes during the operation.
Marantan said highway patrols, checkpoints, and police visibility will be intensified nationwide as the year ends.
