Singer-songwriter and member of OPM group April Boys, Jimmy Regino, has died at the age of 57.
On Saturday, Dec. 27, Vingo Regino shared the news on his Facebook account. The cause of Jimmy Regino’s death has not been disclosed.
“Sa lahat po ng fans ng April Boys, ibinabalita ko po sa inyo na pumanaw na po ang kapatid ko na si Jimmy. Hindi na natin maririnig ang boses niya,” he said.
Vingo described the pain of losing a brother and bandmate, recalling their years of making music together and how memories continue to surface. He also shared that Jimmy had been hospitalized for some time and appeared to be holding on for a final meeting with family.
Formed in 1993, April Boys became popular for heartfelt love songs such as “Honey My Love (So Sweet),” “Ikaw Pa Rin ang Mamahalin,” and “Ganyan Talaga ang Pag-ibig.” In 1995, April Boy Regino left the group to pursue a solo career, but the band continued performing through the years.
The Regino family earlier lost April Boy in November 2020. Details of funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days.
