The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported on Saturday that a major haul of suspected illegal drugs was recovered along the coastline of San Vicente, Palawan on Friday preventing a large quantity of narcotics from entering the community.
At around 8:22 a.m. on December 26, personnel of the San Vicente Municipal Police Station, under the Palawan Police Provincial Office, responded to a report regarding suspicious packages discovered along the coastal area of Danlog, Sitio Gawid, Barangay Caruray, San Vicente, Palawan.
The items were found by a group of youths while swimming in the area.
Upon verification, authorities recovered 31 vacuum-sealed transparent plastic packs of suspected marijuana kush weighing approximately 21.97 kilograms, with an estimated value of P26,364,000.
The recovered illegal drugs were secured at the police station and will be submitted to the Palawan Forensic Unit for laboratory examination and proper disposition.
The PNP said the operation underscored the importance of enhanced police operations in preventing the distribution of illegal drugs believed to have been abandoned or transported through maritime routes.
“This operation shows how vigilance and immediate police action can stop illegal drugs before they reach our communities,” said PNP Acting Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr.
“It is important to respond quickly to stop the spread of illegal drugs in our areas,” he added.
Nartatez said the PNP continues to demonstrate firm action against illegal drugs through timely response and sustained police presence, particularly in vulnerable coastal areas often exploited by drug syndicates.
“Recoveries like this send a clear message that illegal drugs have no place in our country,” he said.
