National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin said on Saturday, that eight operatives of the Eastern Police District Drug Enforcement Unit (EPD-DEU) were detained following allegations of robbery during a supposed police operation in Pasig City.

The incident allegedly occurred at around 2:05 p.m. on December 26 in Barangay Palatiw, Pasig City, while the operatives were reportedly conducting an anti-illegal drugs operation.

Initial reports stated that the operatives entered a residential house in search of a suspected drug personality.

However, the occupants later reported that personal belongings were taken from the residence, prompting them to seek police assistance.

The Pasig City Police Station immediately acted on the complaint.

During verification, authorities found that no official documents were presented to prove the conduct of a legitimate anti-illegal drugs operation at the time of the incident.

A total of nine suspects were placed under police custody at the Pasig City Police Station and are set to undergo inquest proceedings.

Meanwhile, the eight police officers involved were disarmed of their issued service firearms pending the outcome of the investigation.

Aberin reiterated that the NCRPO maintains a firm policy against any form of abuse of authority, misconduct or deviation from police operational procedures.

“The authority vested in every police officer carries with it a higher level of responsibility. In the NCRPO, it is clear—no one is above the law and abuse of authority is not tolerated. We will ensure that anyone found guilty of violating the law is held accountable,” the NCRPO regional director said.
