A taste of tranquility

Discover Bohol’s first international luxury spa at South Palms Resort

Finding paradise in Bohol feels natural and effortless. It appears in the soft gradations of blue at sunrise, in the gentle rhythm of island life, and in moments when time feels generous and unhurried.

It is within this setting that a new chapter in wellness takes shape, as South Palms Resort & Spa Panglao – MGallery Collection opens Lola’s Sanctuary on Panglao Island, introducing what is described as Bohol’s first international luxury resort spa.

Set within the grounds of the island’s only luxury resort, Lola’s Sanctuary draws on Filipino ancestral healing traditions and presents them through a contemporary wellness setting. The spa anchors its treatments on a connection to place, local culture, and nature, using botanicals grown at South Palms’ own South Farm and techniques inspired by generations of Filipino healers.

The opening completes the final phase of South Palms Panglao’s debut as Panglao’s first international resort, which was inaugurated in August 2025. The property positions itself as a destination where design, culture, and wellbeing are closely linked.

“At South Palms Resort & Spa Panglao—MGallery Collection, our vision has always been to create meaningful experiences rooted in place,” general manager Danish Khan shared. He noted that the spa was designed to preserve Bohol’s ancestral healing practices while presenting them in a refined, modern way, from the use of Asin Tibuok to farm-sourced botanicals.

At the heart of the spa is Hilod Dalisay, a 90-minute ancestral body-purifying ritual inspired by traditional Filipino cleansing practices. The treatment features Asin Tibuok, a rare, handcrafted salt produced in Bohol using a 400-year-old method. Combined with lemongrass and virgin coconut oil, the ritual aims to promote calm and clarity while highlighting long-standing local wellness traditions.

Guests can also learn about Asin Tibuok through the resort’s MGallery “M Moment,” a cultural immersion experience that allows visitors to observe the salt-making process alongside Boholano artisans. The activity reflects MGallery’s focus on creating destination-specific experiences.

The spa experience begins at Lola’s Kitchen, an open-air reception surrounded by pandan, lemongrass, and fruit trees, where detox juices and herbal teas are prepared daily. Treatment rooms and open cabanas are designed as quiet retreats, with oils, scrubs, and compresses made from ingredients grown at South Farm, located about one kilometer from the resort.

Wellness offerings extend beyond the spa rooms, with beach yoga, mindfulness walks, and personalized fitness sessions at the resort’s Fit Studio. Together, these elements are intended to mirror Bohol’s slower pace of life and its close relationship with the natural environment.
