EastWest Banking Corp. has integrated its credit card services with Google Pay to streamline digital transactions for customers in the Philippines.
The partnership allows EastWest Visa and Mastercard credit cardholders to add their cards to Google Wallet for contactless payments through Android and Wear OS devices.
The bank is among the first local financial institutions to support the digital wallet service as consumer demand for mobile payment options grows. EastWest Visa and Mastercard users can now complete transactions in physical stores, within mobile applications and on websites without using physical cards.
The integration utilizes tokenization technology to enhance security during transactions. This process replaces sensitive card information with a unique digital identifier, ensuring that actual card numbers are not shared with merchants at the point of sale.
“By enabling Google Pay for its credit cards, EastWest continues its shift toward easier, modern and mobile-friendly banking,” the company said.
