Emirates is celebrating 35 years of operations in the Philippines by honoring the local tradition of pasalubong through the distribution of commemorative anniversary boxes as token of appreciation.
The airline launched its first Manila service in 1990 and has since transported millions of passengers between the country and its global network.
The anniversary boxes are inspired by the balikbayan tradition of overseas Filipinos bringing home gifts for loved ones.
Each box contains items intended to reflect the airline’s global identity and respect for Filipino culture, including locally produced Auro Chocolate made from cacao beans sourced directly from Filipino farmers.
The gift sets also feature several Emirates-branded keepsakes. These include a Christmas stocking, luggage tag, notebook, passport cover, airplane magnet and a Ghaf Tree notecard, which serves as a symbol of resilience and unity in the United Arab Emirates.
Emirates operates 28 weekly flights to the Philippines, providing about 22,700 seats every week. The flight frequency links Filipino travelers, migrant workers and local businesses to more than 140 destinations across the airline’s international network.
The 35-year milestone highlights the carrier’s role in facilitating reunions and maintaining connections for the global Filipino community.
By incorporating local craftsmanship and traditional gift-giving customs, the airline aims to recognize the cultural significance of the journey home for its passengers.
