Toyota PH’s electrified vehicle sales jumped 45% in 11 months

Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMP) recorded combined electrified vehicle sales of 16,986 units from January to November 2025, a 45-percent increase from 11,745 units IN the same period last year.

The growth follows an expansion of the company’s hybrid and battery electric vehicle lineup in the local market.

The sales surge was primarily fueled by Toyota-branded models, which saw a 56-percent rise to 15,455 units. Lexus electrified sales fell 18 percent to 1,531 units, which the company attributed to softer demand in the premium segment.

The performance highlights a growing local acceptance of electrified technology, particularly hybrids, which remain popular due to limited charging infrastructure.

The company recently launched the ATIV Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) as its most affordable electrified option, starting at P1.19 million. The model reportedly achieves fuel efficiency of 31.3 kilometers per liter.

“Toyota Motor Philippines fully supports the Philippine government’s carbon reduction goals, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 75 percent by 2030,” Toyota Motor Philippines president Masando Hashimoto said.

Hashimoto noted that customers can now choose between gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and battery electric options based on their lifestyle and location.

In December 2025, the company introduced the bZ4X, the first Toyota-branded battery electric vehicle (BEV) available in the Philippines. This joins existing Lexus BEVs to strengthen the company’s position in the full-electric segment.

The local expansion aligns with a broader regional strategy announced by Toyota Motor Asia in October 2025. The regional plan targets a 30-percent electrified vehicle share of new sales in Southeast Asia by 2030 and includes the rollout of 10 new electrified models over the next 3 years.

To support its growing electric fleet, Toyota Motor Philippines operates charging stations at select dealerships in Metro Manila and Metro Cebu.

The company plans to expand this infrastructure to other key provinces to support its “Beyond Zero” sustainability vision.
