THE Kabataang Tambuli, a youth organization based in Pasig City, has issued a firm call for the passage of a “truly genuine” Anti-Political Dynasty Bill, warning against weak legislation that merely legitimizes entrenched political power.
In a statement, the group emphasized that political power should never be treated as a family inheritance, but as a public trust that must be earned through merit, service, and accountability. While acknowledging ongoing efforts in Congress to address political dynasties, the group stressed that any proposed law must result in real reform rather than symbolic compliance.
According to the gorup, passing a compromised or diluted bill amid persistent issues of corruption and poor governance would only deepen public frustration and undermine democratic ideals. The youth group cautioned that symbolic legislation cannot correct a system that requires structural and institutional change.
Beyond the proposed law, the organization underscored the urgent need to strengthen key institutions, particularly in education and justice, which it described as essential to forming a politically mature citizenry and sustaining a merit-based democracy.
