Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla, through the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), on Sunday led the deployment of 14 firetrucks to provide emergency water rationing in Barangay Tumana, Marikina City.
The operation aimed to assist around 4,000 families affected by the temporary disconnection of water services in the barangay.
Remulla, along with Marikina 2nd District Rep. Miro Quimbo, inspected the area and oversaw the distribution of water to residents.
Manila Water earlier cut services due to more than P37 million in unpaid bills by barangay officials, affecting 13 common watering points.
Water service was restored after the Marikina local government approved a P15-million appropriation to partially settle the arrears, BFP officials said.
