Philippine National Bank (PNB) has signed a strategic partnership with Discovery Capital Finance Corp. (DCFC) to expand financing access for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across the country.
Under the agreement, PNB will provide a loan facility to DCFC to increase the latter’s funding capacity for small business lending. The partnership seeks to address persistent financing gaps faced by small businesses, particularly those with limited collateral or short credit histories.
The initiative aims to support economic growth and job creation in local communities by combining the balance sheet strength of PNB with the specialized, localized SME financing operations of DCFC. Funds from the facility will be used primarily to support working capital loans for DCFC clients to finance inventory, fulfill contracts, acquire equipment and manage cash flow.
DCFC president Diosdado Chua Salang Jr. said the agreement is a clear signal of the company’s commitment to financial inclusion for the underserved business community. Salang noted that partnering with institutions like PNB allows the firm to effectively amplify its reach beyond its branches and ensure capital flows into regional economies.
