Visa, LandBank team up to digitize government payments

Visa and Land Bank of the Philippines have teamed up to expand card acceptance across digital government platforms to modernize public services and the collection of taxes and fees.

Under the agreement, Visa will enable the state-run lender to facilitate card payments on platforms such as Link.BizPortal.

This allows users to pay for products and services from both the government and private sectors digitally. The scope of the partnership includes payments for national government agencies, government procurement systems and transit and transportation networks.

The collaboration also supports the integration of the eGov.ph digital services portal. The initiative seeks to centralize and streamline government collections by providing a single platform for various public services.

Visa Philippines country manager Jeffrey Navarro said the partnership reinforces the company’s commitment to a digitally and financially inclusive Philippines.

Navarro said the company hopes to enhance security and efficiency for government transactions to support broader socioeconomic goals.

The move follows national efforts to increase the share of digital payments in the country, which have grown significantly as the government pushes for 50 percent of total retail transaction volume to be digital.

While specific financial terms were not disclosed, LandBank said it continues to lead the digital transformation of government disbursements and collections, processing millions of transactions worth billions of pesos annually.
