The Fooking Benevolent Association Inc. celebrated its 121st founding anniversary and induction of officers, alongside the second founding anniversary and induction of the Philippine Fujian General Association and the sixth Women’s Group officers induction ceremony.
The event was held on Nov. 28, 2025 at the East Ocean Palace Restaurant in Parañaque City.
Newly-elected president Wilson Wan delivered an inspiring inaugural address, expressing profound honor and gratitude for the trust shown by his fellow officers.
He outlined five key priorities for his term: fostering unity among villagers to build a harmonious Filipino-Chinese community, protecting members’ rights, enhancing ties between the Philippines and China, actively contributing to societal welfare and promoting youth development within the community.
Wan demonstrated the association’s commitment to education by donating P100,000 to support Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) education programs.
FFCCCII president Victor Lim, who served as the guest speaker, noted that an estimated 2 million Filipino Chinese reside in the Philippines, with over 90 percent of their ancestors hailing from South Fujian Province.
This rich heritage has popularized the Minnan dialect in the local Chinese community. Lim highlighted the significant impact of Fujian businessmen on the Philippine economy, particularly in retail, banking and real estate sectors.
Lim also shared insights on Fujian province’s rapid development, which achieved a GDP of 5,435.51 billion Chinese yuan in 2023, ranking it 8th among all provinces in China.
He encouraged overseas Chinese to invest back in their hometowns, pointing out that Fujian’s progress is comparable to that of developed regions.
Lim commended successful Filipino Chinese entrepreneurs for their societal contributions and urged continued engagement in charitable projects to strengthen bonds between Chinese and Filipino communities.
