Seventeen’s DK, Seungkwan to debut as subunit with EP ‘Serenade’

K-pop idols DK and Seungkwan of Korean boy group Seventeen are set to debut as a subunit with the release of their first extended play, “Serenade.”

On Wednesday, Dec. 17, the group’s agency, PLEDIS Entertainment, announced that the release date of the duo’s EP will be Jan. 12.

The album will mark the first official unit release for the two main vocalists, who will perform under the name DxS. Alongside the announcement, the agency also dropped a teaser trailer titled “An Ordinary Love.”

In the teaser, DK is shown repeatedly attempting to make a phone call, unable to end it despite no answer on the other line, while Seungkwan reflects on a past relationship after noticing a manga series at his workplace.

According to the agency, “Serenade” will explore different stages of romance, from fleeting encounters to breakups, told through the duo’s vocal-driven performances.

The release follows months of speculation after a media report in November suggested the pair were preparing a unit album. Both artists are also members of Seventeen’s first subunit, BSS, alongside Hoshi, who began his mandatory military service in September.

Seventeen, a 13-member group, is currently on the “NEW_” world tour and is set to conclude on March 21, at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.
