PPA posts 10% revenue growth

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) said Monday its revenue grew 10.57 percent to P24.97 billion in the first 10 months of 2025 from P22.58 billion in the same period last year, demonstrating the agency’s vital role in supporting national trade and economic activity.

PPA general-manager Jay Santiago said the agency’s performance was anchored on its mandate to serve the public with accountability, aligning with the national government’s development agenda.

The ports’ operational activities showed strong results, with container traffic reaching 7,138,980 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) and cargo throughput totaling 262,837,559 metric tons (MT) as of October 2025.

Passenger traffic also saw a significant increase, reaching 69,125,788 from January to October 2025. This increased 5.25 percent from the 65,676,921 passengers recorded in the same period last year. The top five ports for 2025 passenger traffic were Iloilo Port, Batangas Port, Jordan Port, Calapan Port and Babak Port.

The PPA said it is also focusing on cruise tourism, having recorded 157,147 cruise passengers from 74 cruise ship calls as of October 2025. To support inclusive tourism and enhance passenger experience, cruise terminal developments are underway in the Ports of Jubang (Dapa, Surigao del Norte), Alegria (Buruanga, Aklan), Balbagon (Mambajao, Camiguin), Coron (Palawan), and Catagbacan (Loon, Bohol).
