Cebu launches ‘Visit Cebu’ tourism campaign after calamities

The Department of Tourism (DOT) has teamed up with Cebu Pacific and the Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Association of Cebu Inc. (HRRACI) to launch the “Visit Cebu” campaign, offering flight incentives and special accommodation packages to revitalize the region’s tourism sector following a spate of natural calamities.

The tripartite memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed Friday in Lapu-Lapu City to reinforce Cebu’s status as a premier destination for leisure, diving, and heritage tourism.

“The Visit Cebu campaign is meant to reinvigorate tourism here in Cebu and to communicate that Cebu continues to be open for tourism,” said Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco at the launch.

She said the collaboration goes beyond offering vouchers, translating “to real and tangible business opportunities for our stakeholders.”

The campaign targets six priority international markets including Korea, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Vietnam, leveraging Cebu Pacific’s international flight routes.

Foreign visitors arriving under the program are eligible for a complimentary one-night hotel stay, hospitality promotions, and other perks at partner accommodations coordinated through HRRACI.

“We are rolling out exciting packages and offers never seen before to make travel more accessible, enjoyable and affordable for our target markets,” said HRRACI president Mia Singson-Leon.

Cebu Pacific will provide air travel support for vetted buyers. HRRACI will manage the hotel partnerships and vouchers.

The program will also include business-to-business sessions connecting local tourism enterprises with suppliers and familiarization tours in Moalboal and Malapascua to promote Cebu’s dive tourism offerings.
