In celebration of the 25th National PESO Congress, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) recognized top-performing Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) and Job Placement Offices (JPOs) for their exemplary performance in facilitating employment, providing and analyzing labor market information, and implementing career development support and other DOLE programs during the 2024 National Search for Best PESO Awards held recently in Tagaytay City.
Labor Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma led the awarding ceremony, commending the PESOs and JPOs for advancing the shared goal of delivering timely, reliable, efficient, and effective public employment services to workers, job seekers, students, and enterprises.
Out of 80 entries evaluated by the Bureau of Local Employment (BLE), 12 PESOs and JPOs emerged as this year’s best of the best.
Undersecretary for Employment and Human Resource Development Carmela I. Torres lauded the honorees for their dedication, noting that their work goes beyond statistics.
The winners were Lyceum of the Philippines University–Batangas for the JPO category; PESO Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental, for the 4th to 6th class municipality category; PESO Jimenez, Misamis Occidental, for the 2nd to 3rd class municipality category; and PESO Talavera, Nueva Ecija, for the 1st class municipality category.
Also recognized were PESO Mati City, Davao Oriental; PESO Tarlac City, Tarlac; and PESO Biñan City, Laguna for the Component and Independent Component City category; and PESO Iloilo City for the Highly Urbanized City category.
Meanwhile, among the provincial PESOs awarded were PESO Kalinga for the 3rd to 5th class province category; PESO Antique for the 2nd class province category; and PESO Davao del Sur and PESO Bataan for the 1st class province category.
In line with the Marcos Jr. administration’s thrust to address job-skills mismatch, DOLE also signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), PESOMAP, and the Federation of Career Guidance Advocates Network of the Philippines, Inc. (FCGANP) for the implementation of the Career Development Support Program (CDSP).
