Globe optimistic on PH growth

Globe Telecom Inc. remains optimistic about the Philippine telecom industry’s future despite shifts in the global mobile landscape, led by a young population, strong digital habits and high investment levels.

The country’s mobile ecosystem is a significant economic driver, with its contribution to gross domestic product (GDP) outperforming the global average.

The GSMA Digital Nations APAC Report 2025 places the Philippines’ mobile ecosystem contribution at 8.4 to 8.6 percent of GDP, higher than the global benchmark of 7.7 percent.

“I’m hopeful and optimistic about the Philippine telecom industry because we still have many opportunities ahead,” said Globe president and chief executive Carl Cruz.

“We have a young population, strong digital habits, and real demand. We need to further unlock that potential,” he said.

Cruz shared his insights at the GSMA Digital Nations Summit Manila, highlighting the industry’s commitment to expansion. Philippine operators invest about 37 percent of revenues in capital expenditures, well above the worldwide norm of around 16 percent.
