OPV brings South Korea’s Daily Beer to the Philippines

Opulence Prime Ventures Inc. (OPV) has launched South Korea’s largest “chimaek” (chicken and draft beer chain) Daily Beer in the Philippines to capitalize on the country’s strong affinity for Korean lifestyle and its dynamic food and beverage scene.

The first Daily Beer branch, a 100-seater flagship, opened at Arcovia City on Nov. 30, 2025. This will be followed by a location at SM Fairview in December and Paseo Parkway, Salcedo in April 2026. Daily Beer operates 400 locations in South Korea and has a presence in Singapore and Thailand.

OPV chairman Kirkland Whang sees the Philippines as an ideal strategic market for the brand. “Here in the Philippines, we have local craft beers. But beer is just like coffee,” Whang said, explaining the unique Korean craft beer offerings.

“Coffee from different places tastes a different way. It’s the same thing with beer,” he said.

The Arcovia branch features a curated selection of Korean craft beers on tap and Daily Beer’s signature fried chicken, which includes the popular Angry Bird known for its balance of spice and flavor.

The chain seeks to offer a new dining and social experience centered on the popular beer and fried chicken combination.

OPV, which also introduced the premium hot pot restaurant Mala King to the country in September, plans significant expansion for Daily Beer under a master-franchise agreement with Daily Beer Co. Ltd. of South Korea.

“If you total the number of Daily Beer branches and compare them with other chicken and craft beer restaurants in the world, I believe they’re [Daily Beer] the number one. It presents a very good opportunity to bring it into the Philippines,” Whang said.

OPV plans to open 10 Daily Beer locations in three years. The company is also looking to scale Mala King with new store openings planned for Makati and BGC.

Daily Beer Co. Ltd. Korea chief executive Sang Jin Lim and Whang announced plans to strengthen exchange between the two countries through selective collaborations with local breweries.

“This partnership is very strong and exciting and we’ll keep developing beers based on Filipino guest feedback,” Lim said.

Whang leads a team at OPV that includes president Kennard Pua and managing-director Tanya Apostol-Whang.

Before entering the food and beverage industry, Whang established successful ventures in e-commerce, including Comfort Living, one of the largest online mattress stores in the country.

Daily Beer at Arcovia City is open daily from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.
