In line with President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s directive to ensure the employability of young Filipinos, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) continues to strengthen its education-to-employment pathways in close partnership with the private sector.
To formalize this effort, DOLE signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Alfamart Trading Philippines, Inc., during the DOLE and Pasay City Anniversary Job Fair held on December 1, 2025, at the Pasay City Astrodome. Representing DOLE were DOLE National Capital Region (NCR) Regional Director Atty. Sarah Buena S. Mirasol and Assistant Regional Director Atty. Jude Thomas P. Trayvilla, while Charity D. Trinidad, Alfamart AVP of Human Resources, represented the partner company.
Under the agreement, DOLE shall strengthen the implementation of its Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), which provides students and out-of-school youth with an opportunity to earn during school breaks, offering them hope of a brighter, more secure future.
As part of the collaboration, the DOLE, through its regional, provincial, and field offices, will oversee the overall implementation of SPES and will provide the necessary technical and administrative assistance to Alfamart.
On the part of Alfamart, the company will coordinate and submit requirements to the DOLE-NCR for review and validation after qualifying as a participating employer.
Anchored on the Philippine Labor and Employment Plan (LEP) 2023-2028, the partnership with the private sector reflects DOLE’s efforts to improve education-to-employment pathways for Filipino youth.
The signing ceremony formed part of the NCR leg of DOLE’s 92nd anniversary nationwide job fairs, featuring over 6,000 job vacancies. As of this writing, 126 were hired on the spot (HOTS) out of almost 600 registered applicants.
DOLE Assistant Secretary Joel M. Gonzales also graced the event and offered his congratulations to the successful HOTS candidates.
The event also featured the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) program payout and the distribution of livelihood assistance under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).
In celebration of its 92nd Founding Anniversary, the Labor Department will conduct nationwide job fairs until December 8, under the theme, DOLE@92: Serbisyong Tapat at Nararapat para sa Lahat.
