In a landmark move to support the sector of persons with disabilities (PWDs), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Bicol, through its Albay Provincial Office (APO), in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Camalig, formally awarded livelihood assistance to the Haplos ng PWD Masseurs Association in Camalig (HAPMAC). The awarding ceremony was held at the Visitor’s Information Center (VIC) in Sumlang, Camalig, Albay.
Under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP), the project titled “Haplos ng PWD: Massage and Wellness Service” granted a total of ₱370,647.00 worth of tools and equipment to 15 PWD beneficiaries. These resources will support the association’s therapeutic and wellness services, which include Swedish massage, back massage, daydagay, pinoy hilot, and ventosa.
Aligned with the ideals of Bagong Pilipinas under the Marcos administration, the initiative is a joint effort between DOLE Bicol and LGU Camalig, with support from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) and the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO). It aims to uplift the economic status of vulnerable groups, particularly PWDs, by enhancing their capacity to earn sustainable income through skill-based services.
DOLE Albay Provincial Head Marilyn L. Luzuriaga encouraged the beneficiaries to remain dedicated to their livelihood journey, highlighting the long-term benefits of sustainable employment. #DOLERO5/KLAB
