PROMISING runners, who earn podium finishes in the 7-Eleven Run 2026, will have a chance to represent the country in international meets.
Organizers said this as they launched the yearly road race on Tuesday, with the competitions slated to happen on February 1, 2026.
Jose Ang Jr., General Merchandise Division Head and Managing Director for eWallet and eCommerce, said this in a press conference at the Verse Cafe 3:16 in San Juan on Wednesday.
“For 2026, what will happen is that we will focus more on the grassroots. Athletes who have never made it to the national team will have a chance to represent the country in international meets,” said Ang.
Footraces in nine categories will take simultaneously in Manila, Cebu, and Davao, with the top three finishers in the men’s and women’s 42km, 32km and the 21km events set to get tickets to an international meet scheduled later in the year.
Online registrations have started on November 26, 2025, and will run until January 11, 2026, or until slots are full.
Ang said organizers of the 7-Eleven Run take pride in having supported runners chosen for the national athletics’ team for the coming Southeast Asian Games.
These athlete include the likes of Christine Hallasgo, Artjoy Torregoza, Ricky Organisa, Richard Salano and Arlan Arbois, who all earned podium finishes in 7-Eleven events for the past years.
The five runners have been selected to compete for Team Philippines in the coming Southeast Asian Games in Thailand.
Gun start for runners in the varying categories of 42km, 32km, 21km, 16km, 10km, 7km, 5 km, 3km and at 711 meters will be held in different waves in Filinvest, Alabang in Manila and in the City di Mare, in Cebu.
