G-Dragon bags Artist of the Year award at the 2025 MAMA Awards

Korean artist G-Dragon was named Artist of the Year at the 2025 MAMA Awards, earning the ceremony’s highest honor during the second night of the event at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong.

On Saturday, Nov. 29, the BIGBANG frontman reflected on his comeback and career momentum.

“Thank you. I made my comeback through MAMA last year, and this year’s activities feel different from any other year,” he said.

“I’m so grateful to VIPs and all the fans. I love you all. Next year marks our group’s 20th anniversary, and I’ll come hang out and party with my friends so I won’t be lonely. See you next year,” G-Dragon added.

This year’s ceremony unfolded in a restrained atmosphere as the K-pop industry mourned victims of a deadly high-rise fire in Hong Kong earlier in the week. Attendees wore black or muted colors, and organizers scaled back several segments in observance of the tragedy.

Other major winners were also announced with BLACKPINK’s Rosé took Song of the Year for “APT,” while Stray Kids won Album of the Year for “Karma.”

ENHYPEN received Fans’ Choice of the Year, and rookie groups Cortis and Hearts2Hearts earned Best New Artist awards.

G-Dragon, who donated HK$1 million to relief efforts, pledged continued support “through art.”
