Batu Ampar Port shifts to single operator model

Batu Ampar Container Terminal (BACT), a subsidiary of International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI), and Interport Mandiri Utama (Interport), in cooperation with Batam Terminal Petikemas (BTP), will become the single port operator for the North Pier of Batu Ampar Port starting Dec. 1, 2025.

The integrated operational structure is expected to modernize port operations, significantly improve service standards, enhance operational efficiency and boost Batam’s competitiveness as a regional logistics hub.

The implementation of the single port operator model is focused on improving operational efficiency, reducing vessel turnaround times and enhancing overall service reliability at Batu Ampar Port. As Batam consolidates its position as a strategic logistics gateway, better port performance is aimed at attracting investment, supporting industrial expansion, and generating broader economic benefits for the city and surrounding regions.

“Starting 1st of December, BACT and BTP will officially operate as the single port operator of Batu Ampar Port’s North Pier, supporting Batu Ampar’s transformation into a modern and competitive international port,” said BP Batam port management director Benny Syahroni.

The North Pier has a 1,032-meter berth and an annual capacity of 900,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU). It features modern facilities for high-volume cargo handling, equipped with five quay cranes, 12 rubber-tired gantry cranes, and 10 electric terminal trucks, with the truck fleet expected to increase to 25 units in the near future.
