Megaworld, Accor team up for world’s largest Mövenpick hotel

Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, the hospitality unit of developer Megaworld Corp, is converting its 1,530-room Grand Westside Hotel into Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside in a new partnership with global hospitality group Accor, making it the world’s largest Mövenpick hotel.

The 19-story, two-tower hotel, located in Megaworld’s 31-hectare Westside City township in Parañaque’s Entertainment City, is scheduled to open before the end of 2026. The conversion deal covers brand alignment, systems integration and operational enhancements to be completed next year, Megaworld said in a disclosure to the stock exchange Thursday.

The agreement is the second collaboration between Megaworld and Accor, following the conversion of Belmont Hotel Mactan into Mercure Mactan Cebu.

Megaworld Hotels & Resorts manages nearly 7,000 rooms across 15 properties nationwide and is set to add six new projects, which will bring more than 2,000 additional rooms.

The massive hotel will be linked by a sky bridge directly to the upcoming Westside City integrated casino and entertainment complex and to the Grand Opera House, which aims to position Manila as the “Broadway of Asia.”

“Our partnership with Megaworld represents an important step in strengthening Accor’s footprint in the Philippines, a market that continues to demonstrate strong momentum in both international and domestic travel,” said Garth Simmons, chief operating officer for Accor’s Premium, Midscale and Economy Division.

“Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside will stand as a flagship for our premium portfolio, supported by Accor’s global network and the reach of ALL Accor, which together help drive visibility and demand across key markets,” said Simmons.

Accord chief development officer for Asia Andrew Langdon said the partnership highlights Accor’s long-term confidence in the Philippines.

Megaworld Hotels & Resorts managing director Cleofe Albiso said the rebranding underscores the company’s efforts to meet rising international demand.

“The opening of the world’s largest Mövenpick is a powerful testament to our group’s efforts to scale our world-class offerings and meet the demands of the broader international market,” she said.
