The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) on Thursday confirmed South Korea’s rocket launch and warned mariners and coastal communities to remain alert for possible fallout of metal debris.
The rocket called Nuri/Korea Space Launch Vehicle-IV (KSLV-IV) lifted off from the Naro Space Center in Goheung, South Jeolla, at around 12:13 a.m. (Philippine Standard Time) on Thursday, Nov.27.
Projected debris from the launch was expected to fall within designated drop zones hundreds of nautical miles off several Philippine areas.
According to PhilSA, these areas include waters approximately 390 nautical miles (NM) from Santa Ana, Cagayan; 394 NM from Babuyan Island; 218 NM from Siargao in Surigao del Norte; 228 NM from Mati City in Davao Oriental; and 232 NM from Mercedes, Samar.
