The Philippine Embassy in Singapore has alerted the public about a fake Facebook page impersonating the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Philippine Embassy in Korea.
In a social media advisory, the embassy said that the fake page is sharing legitimate posts from official government agencies such as the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and the Philippine Embassy in Singapore.
It added that the Facebook page was created by an unknown individual or group, noting that it “may be gathering personal information for various illicit purposes.”
“The public is therefore advised not to engage with or have any interaction with the said fake Facebook page,” the advisory read.
Additionally, the embassy reminded Filipinos to remain cautious and report suspicious accounts on Facebook.
It also emphasized that official government pages, including those of the DFA and Philippine embassies, carry verified blue check badges to confirm their authenticity.
The Philippine Embassy in Japan earlier warned the public about a fake social media page impersonating its official account, urging Filipinos to be vigilant against misinformation.
