Tropical depression ‘Verbena’ passed over Guimaras and southwestern Panay, moving over to Sulu Sea as of 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, with the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) lifting tropical cyclone wind signal no. 1 in all affected areas in Mindanao.
“On the track forecast, ‘Verbena’ will move west northwestward over Sulu Sea, pass near or over Cuyo Islands this afternoon before making landfall over the northern portion of Palawan tonight,” PAGASA said in its latest weather bulletin.
‘Verbena’ was last spotted over the coastal waters of Hamtic, Antique. It was moving west northwestward at 35 kilometers per hour (kph) with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.
As of this posting, Signal No. 1 is still observed in the following areas across Luzon and Visayas:
- Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, the northern and central portions of Palawan (Araceli, Taytay, El Nido, Dumaran, Roxas, San Vicente, Puerto Princesa City) including Calamian, Cuyo, and Cagayancillo Islands, and mainland Masbate (Balud, Mandaon, Milagros, Cawayan, Placer, Pio V. Corpuz, Esperanza, Uson, Dimasalang, City of Masbate, Mobo, Palanas, Aroroy, Cataingan, Baleno)
- Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, and Cebu
‘Verbena’ is forecast to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Thursday, November 27.
