Immigration deports 23 Chinese linked to POGOs

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has deported 23 Chinese nationals linked to unlawful POGO operations and cyberfraud.

The group was removed on Nov. 21 as part of efforts to curb crimes tied to offshore gaming, including human trafficking and illegal employment.

BI officials said the deportees boarded a Philippine Airlines flight to Shanghai from NAIA Terminal 1 early Friday.

All were covered by deportation orders for violating immigration laws, engaging in POGO-like schemes, and facing criminal charges in China.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said the move reinforces the government’s drive to rid the country of foreign nationals involved in illegal activities.

He added that more arrests and deportations will follow as authorities continue operations against illegal gaming and scam hubs.
