Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents arrested two high-priority Korean fugitives in Pasay City, both wanted in their home country for illegal drugs and human trafficking.
Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said the operation is part of efforts to modernize border security and strengthen cooperation with foreign counterparts.
FSU agents, coordinating with South Korean authorities, arrested Lee Jingyu, who is wanted for drug smuggling and multiple prior crimes, and is also overstaying in the Philippines.
They also apprehended Kim Jaehwan, wanted for fraud involving more than 2.27 million Korean won, who likewise overstayed and appears on BI blacklist and watchlist orders.
“These arrests show the Bureau’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the Philippines is not a safe haven for foreign fugitives,” Viado said.
