Police are investigating the death of model and sexy actress Gina Lima, 23, who was found unresponsive inside her condominium unit in Barangay Katipunan on Monday. Her former boyfriend, Ivan Cezar Ronquillo, 24, died a day later in an apparent suicide, authorities said.
According to the La Loma Police Station, Ronquillo discovered Lima was not breathing when he woke up beside her. He brought her to Quezon City General Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
A preliminary hospital report listed cardiorespiratory distress as the possible cause of death. Police have not released additional findings and have not said whether foul play is suspected.
Lima’s friends expressed concern on social media after the news broke, alleging she often had unexplained bruises. Investigators have not confirmed the claims and declined to say whether these will be part of the inquiry. Police said they are reviewing the sequence of events leading to her death and collecting statements from people close to the actress. No further details were released.
Lima was an actress under VMX, a digital entertainment platform. Her management has not issued a statement.
On Tuesday, La Loma Police Station commander Lt. Col. Jose Luis Aguirre confirmed that Ronquillo died after an alleged suicide attempt. He was taken to Quezon City General Hospital, where he was revived but later died.
Police said both cases remain under investigation as they await official medical findings.
