The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Monday said they did not receive any threats from rallyists who were attempting to storm the Malacañang complex.
In a press conference held at Camp Crame, NCRPO Spokesperson Maj. Hazel Asilo announced that the tight security around the seat of national government is only part of their efforts to prevent a similar incident on September 21, which caused chaos during the rally in Mendiola.
Asilo emphasized that the NCRPO is not ruling out the possibility that rallyists will change the venue for the program.
Therefore, as precautionary measures, it has deployed a sufficient number of personnel to cover unexpected events.
Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said it remains on alert for the second day of the peace rally by the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) and other groups.
Some 13,751 PNP personnel in collaboration with other government agencies were deployed in key areas including the Quirino Grandstand, People Power Monument and EDSA Shrine.
PNP Acting Chief, Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr. said all PNP personnel remain alert and focused on maintaining the safety of all participants and the public amid the ongoing three-day peace rallies by various groups.
